PM lauds Manulife's Japanese venture

Toronto, Canada-based Manufacturers Life Insurance Co was praised by Prime Minister Jean Chretien for its new C$513-million Japanese joint venture with Daihyaku Mutual Life Insurance Co. Chretien, who attended the ceremonial unveiling of the joint venture's headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, said the joint venture opens new opportunities for businessmen accompanying joining him in the trip.

Gap pressures other retailers with first report on sweat shops
