CIBC, HP to launch commerce business

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce will form a new electronic commerce business. The company is teaming up with Hewlett-Packard Co. to launch the new business which will be based on its electronic presence in electronic commerce through Intria Corp. Intria, which was created in November 1996, sets up systems for handling both electronic and paper processing for telephone and personal computer banking, automatic banking machines and debit and credit card services. Although Intria provides electronic commerce services, it does not accept Internet payments.

Geac shares bitten badly by Y2K bug problems
Article Abstract:
Geac Computer Corp Ltd has warned that the millennium bug will have a significant impact on its fiscal 1998 third quarter profits and sales. The Canadian software company said sales have been sluggish for the quarter ended Jan 31, 1998, because customers were spending their money on fixing the bug. Moreover, the company itself is footing the bill to help its customers make their systems to become Y2K-compliant.
