CIBC seeks new agency in year of ad industry upheaval

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) has announced that it is looking for a new ad agency to handle its C$33-million account. The bank said that the brand advertising and media buying and planning accounts are the major businesses put on review. Padult Integrated Inc of Toronto, Ontario, is negotiating to retain portions of the advertising and media buying and planning businesses, particularly CIBC's Visa credit card, insurance, wealth management and other separate business lines.

Publicis poised to hire new president

Publicis Canada, a French-owned ad agency, will soon name Serge Rancourt as its new president and chief operating officer. Rancourt, who recently worked with Young & Rubicam in Germany, will replace Yves Gougoux who transferred to Publicis' operations in Paris, France. Although Rancourt will oversee day-to-day operations, Gougoux will retain the title of chief executive officer of Publicis Canada, a source said.
