CP buys Australia-New Zealand shipping company

Canadian Pacific Ltd. (CP) of Calgary in Alberta, Canada, has acquired Australia-New Zealand Direct Line, a major container ship that operates between Australia and New Zealand and the US West Coast. Ray Miles, CEO of the marine division of CP, CP Ships, reported that the new acquisition will boost the division's annual revenue by 15%, or nearly C$300 million. The addition of the newly purchased fleet will make CP Ships the largest container shipping line in the North Atlantic, Latin American and Australasian regions.

Spar sells Canadarm business
Article Abstract:
Spar Aerospace Ltd's Canadarm business has been sold by the company to Richmond, British Columbia-based MacDonald Dettwiler and Associates Ltd, a division of Dulles, VA-based Orbital Sciences Corp, for C$63 million. Aside from the robotics operation, the acquisition also included Spar's large, space-age facility in Brampton, Ontario. The Brampton facility employs 450 people, many of whom are scientists and engineers.
