Canadian appears unprepared to pick up slack from rival's strike
Article Abstract:
Canadian Airlines International Ltd., one of the major airlines in Canada, does not seem ready to shoulder the additional demand from passengers after 2,100 pilots of major airline Air Canada went on strike. Uniglobe Travel Inc. president Mike Merrithew indicated that around 50% to 70% of passengers who used to patronize Montreal, Quebec-based Air Canada lack other options for air transportation. Travel agencies have also been affected by strike as they frantically attempted to secure alternatives for their travel clients.

Banks' merger proposals stymie Toronto real estate
Article Abstract:
The commercial real estate of downtown Toronto, Canada, is on a holding pattern due to the uncertainty prompted by two proposed bank consolidations. The demand for new space remains high in downtown Toronto, but managers at the senior level are postponing any plans for expansion until they see that the mergers leave available space downtown. Ross Moore, vice president of research at Colliers International, opines that many of concerns that the mergers will create surplus space downtown are unwarranted.
