Charter industry siphons executive fliers
Article Abstract:
Top executive and business-class passengers are shifting to private from commercial aircraft to enjoy exclusivity, lower fees and flexibity. Many of these passengers are using private planes owned by their companies, shared with other companies in fractional-ownership programs or chartered. According to United Air Lines Inc, Northwest Airlines Inc and other carriers, the disappearance of full-fare travelers is a major factor for their losses in 1st qtr 2001.

Some airline pilots have taken to treating planeloads of customers to takeout pizza or hamburgers to defuse the anger of passengers subjected to extended flight delays. Instances of pilots telephoning for fast food during delays have been cited at United Airlines and Delta Air Lines. These actions reflect the lengths to which pilots and their airlines will go to prevent public outbursts by groups of passengers over questionable service.

Fliers' discomfort linked to systems on 777s
Article Abstract:
The most comprehensive health study on the Boeing 777 jet has identified temperature controls, ventillation and sharp turns as factors that could account for crew and passenger complaints of dizziness and dryness. It was also found that these jets have less air movement at head height. British Airways PLC, which operates 40 jets, commissioned the study after receiving crew complaints.
