Morty Shulman goes to battle again
Article Abstract:
Mississauga, Ontario-based Draxis Health Inc. founder Morton Shulman seeks his share of the US$41-million deal between Draxis and Pfizer Animal Health Inc., a unit of New York-based Pfizer Inc. The agreement allows Pfizer to market Anipryl, a drug used to treat neurological disorders such as excessive thirst, frequent urination and senility in dogs. Along with Hungarian pharmacologist Jozsef Knoll, Shulman claims he is a co-inventor of Anipryl, which is awaiting approval from the US Food and Drug Administration. Court likely to name Med-Chem receiver
Article Abstract:
Ontario-based Med-Chem Health Care Ltd expects that it will be granted a receivership on Feb 1, 1999, a move that will allow the sale of its medical laboratory operations. The company has had problems since late 1998 in restructuring a debt of $82 million to meet bankruptcy court requirements under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act that would have given clearance to continue operations as a smaller business.
