Collenette denies he gave Onex information
Article Abstract:
Canadian Transport Minister David Collenette has denied allegations that he gave Onex Corp information that he planned to suspend competition rules for the airline industry. Toronto-based Onex Corp, which launched an unsolicited bid to acquire and merge Air Canada and Canadian Airlines International, has been reported to have bought C$43-million worth of Air Canada shares in the months leading to Collette's announcement on Aug 13, 1999. However, Onex said that the accumulation was part of its strategy to take over the airline.
