Wik: rolling the dice
Article Abstract:
Australian Prime Minister John Howard is gambling that the threat of a double dissolution election will pressure the Senate to pass his Wik legislation. However, the bluff will not work and Howard will have to go through with double dissolution. The Wik debate has become a leadership issue, not a race issue. Howard should direct attention to economic policy, but this will be difficult.
