Cough up
Article Abstract:
Indonesia has imposed a US$50 surcharge on tourists entering the country, baffling people in the country who depend on tourism and who would like the government to promote, not discourage, tourism, which is the country's second-largest economic sector after natural resources. Tourism has also been adversely affected by the war in Iraq, the bombing of nightclubs and now the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). Nearby Hong Kong, also suffering from the SARS outbreak, was unable to cancel an advertising campaign that used the slogan: "Hong Kong will take your breath away".
