Ian Tyson, who was part of the 1960's folk duo Ian and Sylvia, is a major factor in the newfound popularity of cowboy music and a popular attraction at the yearly Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, NV. His 1986 album 'Cowboyography' inspired the cowboy renaissance.
