DWL secures financing deal

DWL Inc., a Toronto-based maker of corporate software is to announce the receipt of $31 million (U.S.) in financing from MMC Capital Technology Fund II Inc. and Insight Venture Partners. The research firm of McDonald & Associates reports there were 1,441 venture capital deals in Canada last year, totaling $6.3 billion (Canadian).

Venture capitalists profit in tech sector

A new report has found that investments by venture capital companies have doubled in 1999 compared with 1998. The survey, which was conducted by the Canadian Venture Capital Association, said that the average amount invested by Canadian venture capital firms is $2.75 million.
