DaimlerChrysler hit by more lawsuits, labor unrest
Article Abstract:
Two more lawsuits have been filed against DaimlerChrysler CEO Juergen Schrempp for allegedly lying to shareholders when he said in 1998 that the union of Daimler-Benz and Chrysler would be a merger of equals. The lawsuits contend that Schrempp had no intention of running Chrysler independently but as a mere division of Daimler. Calls for Schrempp to resign have already intensified in Germany and the USA. A German shareholder activist group plans to submit a motion for Schrempp and other top DaimlerChrysler executives to resign at the company's annual shareholders meeting in Apr 2001.

He was also one of the last remaining executives from Chrysler's management team before its acquisition by Daimler-Benz. Gayle plans to continue working as a design consultant for Chrysler after his retirement.
