The peace process to which PLO leader Yasser Arafat and Israel's Yitzhak Rabin committed themselves in 1993 may collapse in the face of terrorist violence. More than 300 people have been killed in such violence since 1993. Israel is now pursuing a separation policy vis-a-vis the Palestinians.
