Dazzling graphic artistry from humble PCs
Article Abstract:
Graphics software sales are growing, with 1991 sales estimated at about $160 million to over $275 million, depending on how the products are defined. The sophisticated entries for the third annual Coreldraw World Design Contest held in Ottawa, Canada, in May 1992 point to the remarkable advances that have taken place in the computer graphics field. Analysts contend that graphic users needs are the driving force for software and equipment makers to continue to improve the capabilities of microcomputers to perform advanced graphics tasks. Companies including Aldus and Adobe Systems, long graphics software makers for Apple Macintosh systems, are now expanding into the lucrative IBM and compatible market. Software Publishing Corp, a long time leader in presentation graphics for the MS-DOS world, has also recently introduced Harvard Draw for Windows.
