Defections Lead to a Shake-Up at Putnam
Article Abstract:
Putnam Investments CEO Lawrence J. Lasser submitted his resignation from the mutual fund company that is under multiple investigations for improper mutual fund trading fraud by key fund managers. Federal and state regulators, also, have sued Putnam for its failure to stop this trading activity that started in 1998 and continued until spring 2003. Charles E. Haldeman, a Putnam senior managing director, has been selected to replace Lasser.
