Michael Dell says he's more than ready for a good fight
Article Abstract:
Michael Dell, head of Dell Computer Corp, has plans that will keep Dell competitive in the computer industry. Dell believes that Compaq's severe price cuts will force major industry giants to similarly cut prices. This will squeeze out smaller companies that may not be able to sustain low profits for a long time. In the short term, users will see low prices, but in the long-term analysis, customers may see market consolidation leading to fewer choices in the computer industry. Dell is developing a way to facilitate communications between customers and the company. Dell is one of a few companies that recorded quarterly sales gains of 75 percent or more in the last two years. The company expects sales of $1.7 billion in 1992.
