Desert rats win back lost refuge

This article describes the Arid Recovery Project, an effort to restore a portion of South Australia's arid zone to a semblance of what it was before Europeans nearly ruined the ecology there. Relevant details include the effort to eliminate feral cats and other non-native animal pests and the reintroduction of native species, beginning with the greater stick-nest rat.
