Sun says second-quarter earnings met expectations

Sun Microsystems Inc. reported net income of $552 million, up 56 percent from the year before, for the second fiscal quarter. Sun sees revenues growing 30 percent to 35 percent. Orders were up 32 percent from last year, but not up as far as the firm's expectations. Today Sun introduced its server-appliance that uses Cobalt technology, as well as its new line of Netra servers.

Despite strong sales, Dell warns of lower-than-expected earnings
Article Abstract:
Dell Computer Corp. warned that earnings would be lower than analysts expected for the fourth quarter despite strong sales in PCs. The computer company's revenue is expected to be $8.5 to $8.6 billion as opposed to the previous forecast of $8.7 billion.
