The massive Aug. 14, 2003 Northeast power failure underscored corporate concern over the need for backup resources to avoid business interruptions and loss of network data when a blackout occurs.? Some Northeastern corporations discovered the hard way that their contingency plans were not far enough out of the geographical loop impacted by the power failure. They are now considering new strategies for establishing backup operations in remote locations.

Banks join forces in possible Wharf bid
