Labor unions' future: Mafia ties
Article Abstract:
The Taft-Hartley law was passed in 1947 outlawing workplaces, which hired only union members and instead allowed workers the right not to join a union following many strikes by employees in workplaces. It was discovered in 1957 that the mafia had infiltrated labor unions and hence, in the 1970s worker protection methods were enacted although penalties against employers who prevented union formation could not be enforced.
