Egghead moves jobs to cut costs
Article Abstract:
Internet World Wide Web-based retailer Egghead.com has announced the relocation of 46 employees from its headquarters in Menlo Park, CA, to its Vancouver, WA, offices to cut costs. The measure is part of the electronic retailer's overall plan to become profitable by Dec 31, 2001. The relocations represent roughly 20% of Egghead.com's 220-member workforce. The announcement appears to be part of a trend among online companies or dot-coms to relocate to cut costs. PlanetRx.com has also announced that it will move from San Francisco, CA, to Memphis, TN, to cut costs.
