The onset of foreign advertisements on Australian television did not match the blast of Peter Weir's 'Gallipoli'. The language in the advertisements has droll origins like- a 'drongo', a stupid person, was the name of a racehorse who never won; a 'dag', an unfashionable person, was the dirtied wool and Don Watson, whose two books on language have sold more than 100,000 copies laments the fading of the native oath, such as 'stone the crows'.

The people of Australia have lost faith in Catholic and Anglican churches as many of its priest are accused of child sexual abuse. Two of the victims have committed suicides and many are still psychologically affected.
