Execs give Cheney good grades: Halliburton's shareholders might disagree
Article Abstract:
Halliburton shareholders have mixed views of Dick Cheney who is the global energy company's CEO and is also running for vice president of the US. They agree that the stock tripled within two years of Cheney's joining the firm but has never recovered from a 60% fall owing to the Asian financial crisis in 1997. His performance bonus also fell from $2 million in 1997 to $1.2 million in 1998 to nothing in 1999. On the other hand, executives rave about Cheney's performance as a corporate officer, claiming that he was crucial to the acquisition of Dresser Industries and smaller deals that made Haliburton the leader in the industry.
