Fair trade labeling: Fair trade towns boost consumer awareness
Article Abstract:
Fair trade towns like Garstang and Keynsham in England increase consumer awareness by promoting the concept of fair trade and by encouraging businesses to sell fair trade products. Similarly, Media in Pennsylvania, the first fair trade town in the United States, is well supported by customers who are conscious of the necessity of fair trade practices to alleviate poverty in Third World countries.

Fair trade labeling: Is fair trade monitoring adequate?
Article Abstract:
Doubts are raised that the monitoring system of the Fairtrade Labelling Organizations International (FLO) to oversee fair trade-certified farms in Peru may be inadequate or even undermined by corruption. Concerns are also voiced about non-certified coffee being falsely exported from Peru under a fair trade label.
