First Marathon posts 42% jump in profit
Article Abstract:
First Marathon Inc has posted a 42% increase in 1998 profit. The huge increase was attributed to the first quarter sale of its derivatives business unit. Its 1998 earnings amounted to $73.1 million, compared to $51.4 million in 1997. Revenues for 1998, however, amounted to $255.6 million, slightly smaller than the $256.2 million for 1997. In line with the profit increase, its annual dividends will be increased from 54 cents to 60 cents.
