The oil prices decreased in May 2005 thereby falling below $US50 per barrel level and hence resulted in the sell off of many oil stocks, including those with production. A list of companies that have oil well drilling programs is presented, one of them being Cooper Energy's Kitson 1well that successfully reached its target at a depth below 1000m in May 2005.

A drop in oil prices also saw prices of shares of oil companies falling and this forced heavy sell off of petroleum stocks. The rot only stopped when oil prices rose slightly and now market is optimistic that shares of oil companies will rise soon.
