Genesis Exploration sold to U.S. firm

Tulsa, Okla.-based Vintage Petroleum Inc. will acquire Calgary, Alb.-based Genesis Exploration Ltd. for $740 million. The deal, which includes the assumption of approximately $160 million in Genesis Exploration's debt, will allow Vintage to expand its Canadian operations.

TransAlta looks to sell power lines

TransAlta Corp. is studying the possibility of divesting some of its power transmission lines as part of an effort to leave the regulated power sector. Power transmission is no longer part of the company's plan to become a "pure-play" generation firm.
