Ford CEO changes mind, says he will testify
Article Abstract:
Ford Motor CEO Jacques Nasser announced on Aug 31, 2000, that he had changed his mind and will testify before Congress beginning Sep 6, 2000. Nasser said he wants to defend his company's name, which is being tarnished in connection with recalled Bridgestone/Firestone tires, most of which are being carried on Ford Explorers. Nasser also commented that he is closer to penalizing Bridgestone/Firestone with lost business for what he termed 'an extremely difficult and disappointing period' in both companies' nearly 100-year relationship.
