Ford shuts a Jag plant, drops Formula 1 auto racing
Article Abstract:
Ford Motor Co. halted car production at Jaguar's Brown's Lane factory, eliminating 1,150 jobs, and dropping out of Formula 1 auto racing, where it can no longer compete with Ferrari ad the German luxury makers BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The restructuring is another sign that the fierce competition in the global auto market means no company can afford to make mistakes.
