Gambling on Internet wins a vote; Nevada legislature backs online betting
Article Abstract:
The Nevada Legislature has passed a bill authorizing the Nevada Gaming Commission to allow casinos to offer online gambling. Some legislators worry that licenses will only be given to the largest casino companies. Federal authorities say the bill is in violation of the Wire Act. Experts say this is the first step in the legalization of online gambling. Under the regulations, casino operators must have technology in place to prevent bet-placing by those living in areas where gambling is illegal and by minors.
