There were around 110 bored and jaded journalists covering the insubstantial conference of nine Canadian premiers. After much fanfare and deliberating behind closed doors, the premiers issued only a seven-paragraph framework for dealing with unity and constitutional controversies.

History is fascinating to study because it reveals much about human nature and the repetitive nature of politics. History is also subject to revisionism, which the hard sciences usually are not. Speculation on how history will view Canada's present political situation is given.
