Team Canada 1997: taking on the world

More than 500 businesspeople, educators and journalists accompanied Canadian politicians on the Team Canada 1997 trade mission to Korea, Thailand and the Philippines. The mission resulted in trade contracts worth $2.1 billion. Some of the participants describe their experiences.

Pacific trade and tear gas: Canadian leaders push for more commerce with Asia

Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien and a delegation of 500 executives, politicians and educators began a 14-day trade mission to Asia in Jan 1997. The group signed 73 contracts worth $600 million in South Korea. They also plan to visit Thailand and the Philippines.
