Global Thermoelectric price soars on fuel cell test results

Global Thermoelectric Inc. of Calgary, Alberta, has announced positive developments regarding its new fuel cell prototype. The company said that its solid oxide fuel cells generated twice as much power as in previous tests. This would enable the company to shrink the size of its fuel cells and increase the range and applications of the new product. Global Thermoelectric shares soared by 46% to $5.05 on Apr 12, 1999.

Canada posted a 35% decline in venture capital investment for the 2002 year to 2.5 billion Canadian dollars. This is compared to 3.8 billion Canadian dollars in 2001.
