Hollinger narrows scope of asset sales: Focus now on selling British publications

Hollinger International Inc. is planning to sell off its high-profile British media assets, taking its Chicago newspaper group off the market and ruling out a sale of the entire company. Reports suggests that there are four bidders for the telegraph group, including the Barclay brothers who attempted to buy holding company Hollinger Inc. from Conrad Black earlier in 2004.

Daimler shares hit by warning

Germany's DaimlerChrysler AG reported that its Chrysler Corp. division is expected to record a $1.2 billion operating loss for the 2003 second quarter. Chrysler, which linked the huge loss to incentives in North America, has been hurt by an economic slowdown and fierce competition.
