With its 40-year technology-supply contract with the Olympics to end in Dec. 2000, IBM is aggressively marketing its role as head provider of 2000 Olympics information technology. IBM is planning to use the Internet and TV to advertise its services to the Olympics. The company will also be entertaining 1,000 or so customers in Sydney, Australia during the Olympics and hopes to impress them with its performance under pressure of immovable deadlines, helping them to see the business problems IBM may be able to solve for them.
