Husky hopes Asian market will buoy its sagging bottom line

Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd., manufacturer of Cadillac of injection molding equipment is expected to go bigger but cheaper in the lucrative Asia-Pacific market in a strategic thrust to increase profits. Husky's move in China will complement an already strong sales and service presence in that market by adding up to 250 employees in the region who can deliver products faster and more cheaply.

Domtar set to slash 800 jobs as rising dollar boosts costs

Domtar Inc., the Montreal-based company is cutting down almost 800 jobs and indefinitely shut part of its Cornwall, mill operations to manage with the impact of a stronger Canadian dollar in December 2004. In addition, it is also cutting another 400 jobs across operations in Canada and the US by the end of 2005 to gain greater efficiencies.
