Australians are feeling increasingly restless over decisions by many major corporates to get their jobs outsourced from companies located in countries like India, China and Brazil. In the age of pink slips this may well become an emotional issue with serious repercussions as many surveys conducted about the issues found that job security topped the list followed by health concerns and rampant globalization may lead to many white-collar employees losing their jobs.

The 2003-04 budget presented by Peter Costello, the finance minister in the Australian government, to lure the voter, and the steps undertaken by Ian Macfarlane, governor of the Reserve Bank, are assessed in relation to Australian economy. Analysis reveals that economy is being pushed to different directions by the government and the bank, which may result in a volatile and dysfunctional instead of stable Australian economy.
