Battered by the economy, Hook Media, an online agency, files for bankruptcy protection
Article Abstract:
Boston, MA-based Hook Media Inc. has filed for bankruptcy protection. Founded in May of 1998, Hook provided online advertising services and was one of the fastest-growing interactive ad agencies in the New England area. At the height of its power, the agency employed 100 people in offices in Boston, MA, New York, NY and Atlanta, GA. The office in Atlanta is now closed and the staff has been reduced by half. The economic slowdown and the demise of the dot-com market have caused the company's financial woes.

Article Abstract:
After the Sep. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon a shaky economic picture has become even shakier. In this unstable climate, advertisers are now pooling together to attempt to interest uneasy consumers. Many ads are being sponsored by umbrella organizations, trade groups and industry associations as a way of sharing resources and attracting the attention of consumers on many fronts at once.
