Inco seeking partner for Goro nickel project
Article Abstract:
Inco Ltd., based in Toronto, Ontario, is seeking a partner for its Goro nickel project in the French Overseas Territory of New Caledonia. Credit Suisse First Boston is helping Inco who among potential partners will the latter sell a 20% to 30% stake in the project. Inco holds 85% of the Goro nickel project, with the rest being controlled by the Bureau de Recherdes Geologiques et Minieres, an agency of the French government. Aside from overseeing engineering work on the project, Inco is constructing a US$50-million pilot plant which uses an acid-pressure leaching technology to process the laterite nickel deposit.

Tenke in talks to sell stake in Congo project
Article Abstract:
Tenke Mining Corp. has expressed plans to sell a controlling 55% stake in its Tenke Fungurume copper and cobalt mine project in Congo to interested parties. The proposed sale has generated interests from various sources, particularly from Anglo American Corp. of South Africa Ltd. The mine project is expected to spur more parties to bid since it holds a substantial amount of copper, according to John Clemmow, an analyst at the Investor Securities of London, UK. The copper and cobalt mine is estimated to contain more than 500 million tonnes of minerals.
