Insurers Ready to Sell Medical Savings Accounts
Article Abstract:
The new, expanded Medicare legislation includes a provision for medical savings accounts. The law allows consumers to combine inexpensive health insurance polices that have high deductibles with tax deductible medical savings accounts to use for medical costs. Both UnitedHealth Group, which acquired medical account provider Golden Rule Insurance, and Aetna are pursuing new insurance policy sales, and there is concern that corporations may be less inclined to offer health benefits now that medical savings accounts may be increasingly available.
