Internet piracy is suspected as U.S. agents raid campuses
Article Abstract:
The U.S. Customs Service has conducted raids at M.I.T., U.C.L.A., and other major college campuses against what it describes as the largest software piracy ring in the country. Raids were also carried out in Europe, targeting unidentified industry insiders, including software executives who apparently fancied themselves as 'Robin Hood' figures who gave away software for free to the poor and any other interested parties. The Web site brazenly operated by the ring, www.drinkordie.com, was also shut down today. The colleges themselves cooperated fully and are not themselves considered part of the criminal probe.
