Ruling on Apple may ease development of software
Article Abstract:
Software developers may see a more open working environment because the majority of Apple's copyright infringement case against Microsoft Corp and HP has been thrown out. The oral ruling could still be changed by the judge who issues the final written ruling, or an appellate court could overturn the ruling completely. The stock prices of all three companies went up when the ruling was issued. Apple will continue with its case, which has another hearing on May 12, 1992 to dispute the similarities between Microsoft Windows' and HP's New Wave user interface to that of the Apple Macintosh.
