Lorus therapeutics to acquire Genesense
Article Abstract:
Lorus Therapeutics Inc of Toronto, Canada, is acquiring GeneSense Technologies Inc in a stock deal designed to create a large oncology firm that could develop several cancer therapies. Lorus will issue 36 mil in new shares to finance the deal, which is priced at around $32 mil based on the stock's closing price on Apr 14, 1999. HSBC Securities Inc will be the financial adviser of the proposed deal that will give GeneSense shareholders a 30% ownership stake in Lorus.
