Nortel stock sold before warning, suit claims

A New York law firm has filed suit against Nortel Networks of Brampton Ontairio and four of its executives in a case of insider trading. The firm of Milberg Weiss Bershard Hynes and Lerach L.L.P. alleges that Nortel executives sold more than $7 million (US) shares in the company less than three weeks before the company issued a surprise warning about earnings.

Quebec group launches class-action suit against Nortel

The Association for the Protection of Quebec Savers and Investors filed what is believed to be the first class action suit against Nortel Networks, alleging that the company misled shareholders January 18 with "bullish" statements about growth and profit prospects in the first quarter of 2001.

Wi-Lan launches suit

Calgary, Alberta-based Wi-LAN Inc. has filed a patent infringement lawsuit to protect its OFDM technology. The suit, which was filed against an unnamed company, seeks to enforce Wi-LAN's patents in regard to the IEEE 802 standard.
