Gunmakers fight back

Seven gun manufacturing companies in the US have filed a lawsuit in Atlanta, GA, that accuses the government of violating their right to free trade. The companies, which include Taurus International Manufacturing, Glock Inc, Ruger and Co, Sturm, SIG Arms, Colt's Manufacturing Co, Browning Arms and Beretta USA, have alleged that the government is illegally trying to control gun procurement by law enforcement agencies by giving preferential treatment to companies that agree to a code of conduct to build safer guns.

'Love Bug' virus stole passwords from computers
Article Abstract:
The FBI is investigating the suspected perpetrators of the 'ILOVEYOU' computer virus that has victimized approximately 10 million people worldwide. Estimated losses has already gone beyond $10 billion. Philippine investigators are tracking 10 suspects, one of whom was a computer programming student at AMA Computer College, also in the Philippines. Investigators are looking at the theft angle since the virus did not only destroy music and graphics files and replicated itself all over the globe. It also copied and sent password files from every computer it destroyed and sent them to a repository in the Philippines.

U.S. to join suits againsts gunmakers
Article Abstract:
The Dept of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will file a separate class action suit that the 3,200 public housing authorities would bring if the gunmakers fail to reach a settlement on the way they design and sell weapons. The 100 largest public housing authorities are forced to spend $1 billion on security due to the annual average of 10,000 gun crines. The National Rifle Assn derired the government's decision to side with the 29 cities and municipalities suing the gun makers as reckless harassment.
