New Medicare Plan For Drug Benefits Prohibits Insurance
Article Abstract:
The new Medicare legislation that will provide some prescription drug coverage for the elderly beginning Jan. 1, 2006 will not allow seniors to buy supplemental drug insurance. Unlike the basic Medicare insurance plan that permits the elderly to supplement their overall health insurance with Medigap policies, the new Medicare bill wants beneficiaries to assume some financial responsibility for their drug costs. Congress designed the legislation that way to prevent exploitation of insurance benefits.
