MEDICARE PLAN COVERING DRUGS BACKED BY AARP
Article Abstract:
AARP has decided to endorse proposed legislation that would provide some financial coverage for seniors' prescription drug plans. Democratic legislators are disappointed by the AARP action because they believe that Medicare premiums will increase and lead to eventual decreases in benefits. Prescription drugs benefits will start in 2006 with 75% coverage of the first $2,200 in drug costs combined with a $275 deductible and $35 monthly premium. Then seniors have to pay out $3,600 in costs before receiving 95% coverage for each prescription.
