Magna eyes Daimler plant to build cars for BMW

Magna International Inc. is planning to acquire a Eurostar assembly plant in Graz, Austria from DaimlerChrysler AG as a possible location to assemble vehicles for BMW. Magna's plans to merge Tesma International Inc. with Steyr-Daimler-Puch Fahrzeugtechnik GmbH have been delayed since the talks with DaimlerChrysler.

Magna lands deal to build BMWs

BMW has given a new contract to Aurora, Ont.-based Magna International Inc. The deal, in which Magna will produce BMW's X3 sport utility vehicles in Austria, is part of Magna's startegy to become a niche vehicle manufacturer.
