Corel buys into video conferencing firm

Ottawa-based Corel Corp. has acquired a 10% stake in Mississauga, Ont.-based Simply.com Inc., which is a privately-held video teleconferencing company. Corel made the acquisition as part of its expansion in Linux technology.

Corel buys electronic clip-art firm

Corel Corp, a software manufacturer based in Ottawa, Canada, acquired Los Angeles, CA-based online clip-art firm GraphicCorp for $10.3 mil. The acquisition calls for the addition of GraphicCorp's stable of over two mil animations, photos and images to Corel's Web site. Corel announced that GraphicCorp's 100,000 Web images and 10,000 vector images will be offered for free via a couple of Web sites, www.clipartdownload.com and www.corel.com.
